The TDXU 4 parting and grooving insert is a 4 mm wide parting and grooving insert for the jobs where a narrower blade simply will not survive. When the parting depth is long – large diameter bar, heavy shaft work, thick walled tube – the blade has to reach a long way into the cut, and at that reach a 2 mm or 3 mm blade will deflect before it reaches centre.

The wider blade costs you more material in the kerf. What it buys is a cut that stays straight.
