Drills
Drills for Metal – HSS and Solid Carbide Drill Bits
Drills are the highest consumption item in most workshops and the one where buying on price alone costs the most. Dhankuber Traders stocks drill bits for metal in two families – high speed steel for general drilling and repair work, and solid carbide for high speed, high accuracy hole making on rigid CNC machines.
The right choice depends far less on the hole and far more on the machine. Read the comparison below before you order, or send us the job and we will make the recommendation.
Drill Types We Stock
- HSS drills – parallel shank and taper shank twist drills, jobber and stub series, in plain HSS and cobalt-bearing HSS-Co for tougher materials. The workhorse for drilling machines, radial drills, lathes and general fabrication.
- Solid carbide drills – one-piece tungsten carbide drills, typically coated, for CNC machines with through-spindle or good flood coolant. Three to five times the cutting speed of HSS, far better hole tolerance and surface finish, and a much longer tool life when the setup supports them.
